“French Favourites”
The concert program, French Favourites, brings together works from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries—a time when music increasingly resembled painting, and painting sought the rhythm of music.

ANASTASIJA JANUŠEVSKA
Anastasia JANUŠEVSKA: is the musician of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet Symphony Orchestra. Anastasia is characterized by soulful depth, amazing musicality and the oboe's rich and deep sound. Laureate in several international competitions, as well as laureate in chamber ensemble competitions.
From the age of 18, Anastasija was invited as an orchestra musician in the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, Jervi Academy Orchestra, as well as in projects with chamber orchestra Cremerata Baltica.
As a soloist, she has collaborated with Jāzeps Vītolas Latvian Music Academy Chamber Orchestra, Jelgava Music High School Chamber Orchestra.
Anastasia started learning the oboe at the age of 11 at the Jelgava Music High School under Daiņš Tzimermanis. She wanted to enroll in a choir class, but there were no more places. Therefore, not knowing how the oboe looks and sounds, she agreed to the proposed instrument without thinking, because she really wanted to learn the art of music. "The instrument fell into my heart from the first lesson with the teacher!" – confesses the musician.
Anastasia has obtained a bachelor's degree in the oboe class of Normund Schne, a master's degree in the oboe class of Egils Upatnieks at the Latvian Music Academy of Jāzeps Vītolas, and also studied for one and a half years with Tomas Indermīles in Germany, at the Karlsruhe University of Music. Giving several concerts in Germany with chamber ensembles, orchestras, as well as as a soloist.
She has perfected her oboe playing in master classes with oboists Albrecht Maier, Gregor Witt, Luisa Pelerina, Mark Scheiferdyk, Christian Wetzel, Omar Zoboli, Laszlo Hadadi, Petar Hristov.

ROBERTO PALERMO
Is an Italian virtuoso accordionist, an excellent improviser, a polystylist musician and composer from the south of Italy.
Roberto has composed and recorded music for many Italian films, worked in top Italian theatres. For the last 10 years he has lived and worked in Oslo, Norway, where he takes part in various musical projects and works in the theatre.
Playing in various genres, Roberto considers the accordion a great means of musical expression and strives to develop contemporary music. A student of one of the best accordionists in the world - the Italian Renzo Ruggieri.
ALEXEY KOLESNIKOV
Alexey KOLESNIKOV: A celebrated Riga-born violinist, ALEXEY is known for his virtuosity, improvisational talent, and participation in international festivals and TV shows. Having studied at the Moscow Conservatory, ALEXEY has spent years working on prominent musical projects worldwide. He returned to Latvia 8 years ago, where he continues his musical journey, founding the "Musical Ornaments" project and his own music school.

ROMAN TESTELETS
ROMAN TESTELETS: A renowned Latvian pianist-polystylist, educator, improviser, and singer. He is the founder of the RUDAGA Children’s Education Center and comes from a distinguished musical family, with his aunt Eleonora Testelec being a prominent cellist. ROMAN has worked with show business stars, led numerous musical projects, and organized international competitions for young musicians.
The musicians will present a very exquisite program “TANGO. Buenosaires Night”, some compositions will probably be performed in Latvia for the first time.
The program will feature works by Astor Piazzolla, Richard Galliano, Carlos Gardel, arrangements of Neapolitan songs “O Sole Mio”, “Dicitencello Vuie”, “Torna a Surriento”, and of course everyone’s favorite “Czardas” by Vittorio Monti.

“AME ROMA”
AME ROMA” is a renowned Latvian folk music ensemble made up of members from two legendary Latvian Romani families: KOPYLENKO and RUDEVICH. The ensemble has a history spanning over 90 years, with the fourth generation of musicians continuing the legacy. They preserve their unique style and the spirit of a true Romani tabor, delighting audiences with authentic Romani songs, dances, and romances.
The group is led by RAISA KOPYLENKO, a representative of a prominent musical dynasty. Her grandfather, ANDREY KOPYLENKO, founded the ensemble in 1934. Her father, ARTUR KOPYLENKO, continued the family tradition and became a celebrated musician both in Latvia and abroad.
The lead vocalist, ROXANA RUDEVICH, is an expert and consultant on Romani integration issues at the European Parliament. Her father, NORMUNDS RUDEVICH, is a former member of the Latvian Parliament (The Saeima) and now serves as the President of the International Romani Union.
Since 2015, the Rudevich family has been organizing the International Romani Culture Festival in Latvia, bringing together the finest Romani musicians from around the world.
“AME ROMA” participates in various events organized by the Ministry of Culture, local governments, and other cultural organizations, including Riga City Festival, the Latvian Song and Dance Festival, and others.
ALEXEY KOLESNIKOV
Alexey KOLESNIKOV is a renowned violin virtuoso from Riga, a multi-genre musician, an international competition laureate, an exceptional improviser, and a participant in numerous TV shows and international festivals.
Alexey was born in Riga and, as a child, won first place three years in a row in the “Talents for Latvia” competition. At 16, he moved to Moscow and graduated from the Moscow Conservatory. He spent nearly 20 years abroad, working on prominent musical projects in both classical music and show business.
Nine years ago, Alexey returned to Latvia, where he continues his creative journey and actively performs.
Alexey shares a long-standing friendship and creative partnership with “AME ROMA” and has performed with them at numerous festivals both in Latvia and internationally.

Music That Creates Light: A Concert by Alexey Kolesnikov and Roman Testelets
On April 4 at 19:00, the House of the Blackheads will be filled with sounds that transcend time. In an intimate, history-infused setting, violinist Alexey Kolesnikov and pianist Roman Testelets—musicians who masterfully create vast soundscapes—will take the stage.
The concert program, French Favourites, brings together works from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries—a time when music increasingly resembled painting, and painting sought the rhythm of music.
Franck, Debussy, Satie, Ravel—composers whose artistry parallels the mastery of impressionist and romantic painters such as Delacroix, Turner, and Monet. Their music does not tell stories outright but evokes them in the listener’s mind—through delicate nuances, subtle shifts of color, and contrasts of light and shadow.
The concert will feature César Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano—one of the most deeply moving works of late Romanticism. Originally written as a wedding gift, it blends a warm melodic line with an architecturally refined form. This music is like a Delacroix painting, where light and movement dissolve rigid boundaries, turning sound into a stream of emotion.
Next, Claude Debussy—the revolutionary of musical form—who abandoned academic rigor in favor of an intuitive, painterly fluidity of sound. His music is made of airy brushstrokes, like Monet’s sketches, where individual notes merge into soft, shimmering contours.
Érik Satie, on the other hand, works with silence much like Van Gogh worked with thick layers of paint. His Gnossienne blurs conventional perceptions of time, creating a sense of weightlessness and deep contemplation.
Maurice Ravel—the master of textures and brilliance. His Boléro, in an arrangement for violin and piano, is an explosion of color and temperament, a virtuoso whirlwind where each note strikes with the precision of Toulouse-Lautrec’s brushstrokes.
This concert is an opportunity to hear how music becomes painting and painting transforms into music. Alexey Kolesnikov and Roman Testelets do not merely perform pieces—they fill them with air, light, and depth, allowing each listener to envision their own soundscapes. An evening awaits where music takes on color, and emotions come to life!
